Re: Stacks We are thrilled to release Bon Iver's debut full-length 'For Emma, Forever Ago'. Bon Iver (pronounced: bohn eevair; French for "good winter" and spelled wrong on purpose) is a greeting, a celebration and a sentiment. It is a new statement of an artist moving on and establishing the groundwork for a lasting career  . Jen. Jen I'm a firm believer that music is of a time so, although this album has been out for a while, it's only resonating with me now. Completely consumed by Bon Iver at the moment.

Can anyone tell if this version is sound/pressing quality wise exactly as the reissue https://www.discogs.com/es/Bon-Iver-For-Emma-Forever-Ago/release/11893618 ?

I find this pressing to be very powerful-sounding, but certainly not perfect. Overall I was pleasantly surprised though. And the album is of course one of a kind.

Where can I get this copy? Is it on Amazon UK?
Tamesya
Can buy through local stores, most are 4Ad, just check the reverse. Don't support Amazon though, don't get me started on the mess we'll all be in if only Amazon existed in the future. Go out and have a gander at your local record stores, they will also be able to order it in for you!

Beautiful sound over a quiet backdrop on my 4AD. Nice clean thick sound. An excellent pressing.

Agree with some others here. This is the copy to have. Brushing noises are still present on side-b for my copy but far, far less noticeable and much less frequent. Surface noise on this pressing is night-and-day better than the US version. The cover material is thinner however which is the only drawback, but I'll take that with a much better record any day.

This is a wonderful album and my 4AD issue has a wonderful sound! No cracks, no shit, just pure hunting cabin sounds:)

Ndav
well my copy sounds perfect on the 4ad one if that can help.

Perhaps I misunderstand the complaints of others, but my copy of this edition does not have any particular audio artifacts. It sounds remarkably like the digital copy I listened to previously via Spotify, in that both are what I consider the poorest recording I have had the pleasure of listening to in recent years. Please do not misunderstand me - I love this music. But it does not sound like a professional recording.I would hesitate to recommend the purchase of this on vinyl, simply because the gain from moving to vinyl is minimal at best for this album.
Black_Hawk_Down
Some loud pops throughout both sides. Otherwise the sound is fine
Doomredeemer
Can anyone confirm if this pressing has any problems with the sound please?
Minnai
My pressing appeared to be off center. My stylus kept rocking back and forth in the grooves creating a weird panning effect. Terrible pressing. I returned it immediately.

Nilador
If you're still looking, I have no problems with mine.
Lanin
Does anyone have the bronze/orange copy of this LP that was only available at their shows in the UK during this release? It was very limited, but it does exist. I've seen copies in forums, but nothing for sale on here or eBay.

I have the vinyl on Jagjaguwar JAG115, but when I turn up the volume on my hi-fi system, I can hear slight noise at some points... Especially at the refrain of "Skinny Love" (My, my, my,...). I think it's in the recording since I can also hear it on the mp3 file on iTunes. Is there also noise on the vinyls on 4AD? Looking forward to some reactions. Thanks,Glenn

I'm not sure about 4AD vinyls, but the original recording, as far as I'm aware, was made using pretty basic equipment, and I think Justin intended for "slight noises" to come through on the record too. I think they add to the intimacy of the album. I love at the end of the record how you can hear him get up from his chair and turn the recorder off.
Ceroelyu
Thanks for the reply! Guess I'm not buying the 4AD release then... Quite a pity indeed for such a beautiful record.
Cordaron
Unfortunately there is the same problem with the 4AD release - distortion in higher-mid frequencies affecting mostly vocals in louder parts of the songs. It's killing the intimate atmosphere of the album. What a pity!
