In 1984, Tones on Tail was disbanded; Ash founded Love and Rockets in 1985 with Haskins and David J, also of Bauhaus Ash has stated that guitar solos do not interest him much, since they rely on a musician's ego. He cares much more for the craft of songwriting and the overall production of a song rather than a focus on guitar or any other single instrument
But Love and Rockets, the sense I got was that you had a lot of fun playing that music. Did you see it that way? David: We were definitely having a lot of fun, yeah. In fact, I see a relationship between that and my new album An Eclipse of Ships. There was definitely some power that was there. Usually it was Peter or myself that would write lyrics. Peter wrote most of the lyrics, actually, and Daniel wrote the odd lyric. But what we all brought to it was the instruments that we played. A vampire can never retire from being a vampire, because that's for eternity.

Bauhaus co-founders Peter Murphy and David J Haskins are set to celebrate the band’s 40th Anniversary with a Ruby Celebration tour, named after the gemstone issued for 40 year wedding anniversaries. Meanwhile, the other two members of Bauhaus, Daniel Ash, and Kevin Haskins, have just finished another round of touring as their new band Poptone, also recently releasing a live album recently featuring tracks culled from the live catalog of Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, and Tones On Tail.
To mark last week’s release of New Tales to Tell: A Tribute to Love and Rockets, Slicing Up Eyeballs caught up with that band’s frontman, Daniel Ash, to chat about the tribute album, his new music and his involvement with a trio of classic goth- and psychedelic-tinged ’80s acts: Bauhaus, Love and Rockets and Tones on Tail. Ash also revealed that following sporadic reunions beginning in 1998, it was the decision to go into the studio with Peter Murphy, David J and Kevin Haskins as Bauhaus to record 2008’s Go Away White that did in that band: We saw things in a differing light.
By 1983, Bauhaus broke up and Murphy went on to new projects not involving Bauhaus members Kevin Haskins, David J, or Daniel Ash. After some brief dabbling with acting and dance - including a slightly odd televised performance to Bauhaus's "Hollow Hills" - he soon formed Dalis Car with Mick Karn, the bass player from Japan. Peter John Murphy (born 11 July 1957, near Northampton, England, raised in Wellingborough, England), is the vocalist of the rock group Bauhaus who later went on to release a number of solo albums, such as Deep and Love Hysteria. Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Bauhaus broke up in 1983. Peter Murphy began a solo career while Ash and Haskins continued as Tones on Tail and, later, reunited with David J to form Love and Rockets. Both enjoyed greater commercial success in the United States than Bauhaus had, but disappeared from the charts in their homeland. Bauhaus eventually reunited for a 1998 tour and again from 2005–2008.
Pop is the only studio album by English post-punk band Tones on Tail, a side project of Bauhaus members Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins (who later went on to form Love and Rockets with David J), and Bauhaus roadie Glenn Campling. It was released on 6 April 1984 by record label Beggars Banquet. All tracks written by Tones on Tail (Ash, Glenn Campling and Kevin Haskins).
